FORAS, a sister NGO of the Rene Moawad Foundation, which was created to assist job seekers in finding a career, in close collaboration with Hirelebanese.com, an online portal for recruiting and employing with over 17000 companies subscribed, is organizing the 1st Job Fair in the North of Lebanon.

This event which will take place on October 14 and 15, 2016 at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Tripoli is under the patronage of the Chamber and the Municipality of Tripoli.

RMF signs a cooperation protocol with USJ, funded by the European Union

René Moawad Foundation represented by its former President Minister Nayla Moawad, signed a cooperation protocol with Saint Joseph University (USJ), represented by its Rector Professor Salim Daccache SJ, on the project “Enhancing CSOs in the North and Akkar for Sustainable Development”, funded by the European Union.
The event took place at the USJ, and was attended in addition to Mrs Moawad and professor Daccache, by Vice Rector of USJ Michel Choueir SJ, the director of the Lebanese School for social training (ELFS) Maryse Gemaa, the deputies of the president, members of boards and academicians of USJ, supervisors of the ELFS and the general manager of the René Moawad Foundation Mr. Nabil Moawad and his team.
Mrs. Moawad stated, “The René Moawad Foundation, since its inception aimed through the various projects and activities implemented across Lebanon, to translate the vision of late President René Moawad, who has long believed that balanced and sustained development is a right for all citizens to ensure their dignity and rootedness in the land.”
Mrs. Moawad added, “this project won’t succeed without the cooperation of the local authorities and the participation of all segments of civil society.”
Rector Professor Salim Daccache SJ, stressed on: “The importance of cooperation between the academic and educational sector and the NGOs to build and develop human capacity and strengthen social cohesion and stimulation of production, development and sustainable development.”
“Enhancing CSOs in the North and Akkar for Sustainable Development” project works to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations in the North and Akkar for more durability and services allocated to the communities. This is done through the promotion of social cohesion and protection, participation and strengthening of partnership of the public and private sectors.

Teaming agreement between RMF and CSR Lebanon

On July 14, 2016, The René Moawad Foundation signed a teaming agreement with CSR Lebanon under the EU funded project “Enhancing CSOs in the North and Akkar for Sustainable Development”.
The signature took place at RMF offices in Achrafieh, in the presence of RMF General Director Nabil Moawad, CSR Lebanon CEO Khaled Kassar and the teams of both organizations. This collaboration comes to enhance ‪NGOs‬‬‬‬ in the North and Akkar for sustainable development and raising awareness on Corporate Social Responsibility.
“Enhancing CSOs in the North and Akkar for Sustainable Development” is a project funded by the European Union and implemented by Rene Moawad Foundation in partnership with USJ – Ecole Libanaise de Formation Sociale (ELFS) and its main objective is to Increase the capacity of CSOs and serve their local communities through the enhancement of social cohesion and protection and enhanced engagement with public private partnership.

Nayla Moawad receives an honorary doctorate in humanities from LAU

On June 7, 2016, The Lebanese American University (LAU) granted an honorary doctorate degree in humanities to Rene Moawad Foundation president and former minister and MP Nayla Moawad, at the LAU Byblos campus commencement ceremony.
“Have faith in yourself and your country and do not allow despair in despite the difficulties,” said Mrs. Moawad after delivering a polemic against the state’s systematic failure to support and nurture the citizens of Lebanon. “Revolt against corruption and for accountability and for Lebanon … Carry the weapon of education to face challenges and have faith that the future is for you and that Lebanon needs you.”
This honor came as an initiative from LAU to award certificates and honorary doctorates to Lebanese figures and Immigrants that have played a role in supporting the social work and the sustainable development in Lebanon.

RMF Inaugurates a Public Garden and an Events Venue in Kousba

On May 6, 2016, The René Moawad Foundation (RMF) celebrated the completion of establishing a public garden and an events venue in Kousba (Koura district) under the Building Alliance for Local Advancement, Development, and Investment (BALADI) project, funded by the United Stated Agency for International Development (USAID).

The inauguration event was attended by RMF Executive Director Michel Moawad, USAID Mission Director Carolyn Bryan, the Mayor of Kousba Akel Greige, representatives of Kousba El Ghad NGO and CDDG, presidents of municipalities of surrounding towns in Koura district, members of parliament representing the village, prominent community members, and entrepreneurs from the area.

The inauguration was also an opportunity to open the first event in the park, the “Spring Flower Market and Local Products Exhibition”, which took place from May 6-8, 2016 and displayed locally-made products by entrepreneurs from Kousba. Attendees and participants toured the park and exhibitors’ booths.

The René Moawad Foundation and through the USAID BALADI program contribution ($243,000) helped Kousba Municipality construct and equip a park and events venue to create jobs and increase the income of Kousba residents through the various activities that will be organized annually in the venue. The park includes a children’s playground, an outdoor venue for events and a small cafeteria, which are accessible for persons with physical challenges. The park was conceptualized by Kousba Municipality in collaboration with community residents and local organizations in the village. It will employ 10 persons and will help at least 70 entrepreneurs increase their sales through exhibitions, seasonal festivals, weddings and other occasions.

The five-year BALADI project supports municipal-led development activities. BALADI is currently financing 59 activities, which involve engaging 157 municipalities with socio-economic development initiatives throughout Lebanon.
