Addressing Child Marriage through Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Education (SRHR)WASH assistance for Syrian Refugees and affected Populations in T5, North Lebanon

This project is designed to Support the most vulnerable married Syrian and other nationality adolescent girls (11-17) and young women (18-24) by increasing their access to life-saving Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services and quality Education in Emergency services.

The planned project activities include:

  • In target areas, identify the most vulnerable married girls and young women from both the refugee and host communities (following the selection/vulnerability criteria).
  • Adapt life skill curricula4 for vulnerable adolescent girls, young women, and their spouses including modules on rights, gender-based violence, gender equality, psychosocial support, sexual and reproductive health, basic health, family planning, marriage relationships, parenting skills for young parents.
  • Identify and train staff and male and female community co-facilitators to deliver the life skills training to adolescent girls and young women and their spouses.
  • Deliver the life skill curriculum to married girls and young women coupled with information on available protection, education, and SRH services in their localities, and how to access them. Sessions will be delivered through the local partner’s centers, as well as through mobile teams to homebound girls.
  • Provide dignity kits and other basic health, hygiene and SRH materials to married girls and young women.
  • Support peer groups to organize their own activities/initiatives such as social gatherings, women support meetings, family days, awareness events, etc.
  • Participation of girls’ and young women’s spouses in selected life skill sessions to promote girls’ and women’s rights, provide support to couples and address harmful social norms.
  • Provide awareness sessions to girls’ and young women’s parents/caregivers and parents-in-law to promote girls’ and women’s rights, provide support to couples and address harmful social norms.
  • Mapping of local SRH services provided by public, private and civil society actors in targeted areas.

This project is designed to improve the sanitation situation of selected communities in Tripoli and its surrounding five districts.

The planned project activities include:

  • Construction of 2 solid waste management projects benefiting 35,000 individuals (including 10,000 Syrian refugee)
  • Rehabilitation of 2 waste water projects benefiting 10,000 individuals (including 2,000 Syrian refugees)
  • Rehabilitation of 2 disaster risk reduction projects benefiting 5,000 individuals (including 1,250 Syrian refugees)
  • Establishing 6 CPCs including representatives of the local community Syrian refugees and local authorities, and
  • Capacity Building of 35 representatives from local committees including representatives of the local community Syrian refugees and local authorities on operating and maintaining sanitation systems has been built.

Provision of technical information to affected populations about adequate quantity of safe water and means to store water safely in 06 targeted municipalities, as well as awareness raising to these municipalities about the water projects funded by EU in their regions
